I’m glad I was sent a request for a review, as I was actually going to email tonight regarding the stay.
I’ve never actually complained before, but too many things went wrong/were bad with our stay that I feel like I have to.
On the first day when we went to tee off from the aylesford course, we arrived for our tee time at 12.40pm, the man at the hut told us we were teeing off with another couple at 12.50pm, which wasn’t a problem. The other couple decided to tee off at 12.30pm, so we told them to go ahead and we would wait for our tee time and due to the space of a 20 minute gap we may aswell just play separately. The man at the hut was not happy, and complained that we weren’t going early, we tried to explain that it was a 20 min gap until a tee time so we didn’t see the problem, he was raising his voice at us and said “oh for fuck sake, do what you want then”. We honestly didn’t see the problem, as we weren’t delaying anyone and we weren’t trying to tee off later than planned. It just started the trip on the wrong note.
Later in the evening when we went to go for dinner, the manager of the restaurant checked for our booking and said it weren’t on his list. I showed him the reservation in my golf travel app, and he said it wasn’t his problem, if it’s not on his list there’s nothing he can do. I went to the reception and spoke to the lady who checked us in, as she actually confirmed our reservation time with us when we were getting our room key. She went and had a word with the restaurant manager who was still being quite rude, and said he will see what he can do. He left us sat outside the restaurant for 15 mins, and only let us in when we went back up to see if he had a table.
Then at 12.40am in the morning, the fire alarm went off, which is not a problem as I know these things happen. However, as we got downstairs no member of staff was giving any explanation and after 10 minutes we were told to go back to our room, no explanation or apology or anything. The fire alarm then went off again an hour and a half later at 2am, we didn’t bother to go downstairs for this one as it seemed pointless as everything was so unorganised. So we just waited to see if the alarm would stop, and it did after 5 minutes. I understand fire alarms are one of those things, but there was no explanation, apology or anything, if anything the staff seemed quite annoyed with us asking.
The following morning we were booked in to tee off at 10am, after a bad nights sleep with the alarms.
We went to check in at the golf shop at 9.30am and they told us our tee time had been moved to 9.40am, but no one had let us know. We rushed over to the first tee, and the same man as the day before shouted at us that we were late. We explained that our tee time was 10am on our booking, and he said we should have checked at the shop beforehand because the times are likely to change. How are we suppose to know that? So it started the second course on a bad note aswell.
