Considered by many to be the best golf tournament on The PGA Tour schedule, The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am sees the world of celebrities, sports stars and professional golfers join together to compete over some of golf’s most impressive real estate in Monterey, California.

Having started in some way shape or form in 1937 with Bing Crosby hosting the first Pro-Amateur Golf Championship in Rancho Sante Fe, the event eventually went onto be staged in Monterey in 1947 and has enjoyed a rich history since then with a list of champions, including Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and more recently Dustin Johnson, befitting of such an incredible stretch of land that is Pebble Beach and it’s surrounding area.

About Pebble Beach Golf Links

The Old Course at St Andrews might just take the title of most photographed course but Pebble Beach will be a very close second. This incredible coastal layout was laid in 1919 and has won almost every single accolade in golf but the quote from Jack Nicklaus, golf’s most successful Major Champion, is one they are surely the most proud of;

“If I had only one more round to play, I would choose to play it at Pebble Beach. I’ve loved this course from the first time I saw it. It’s possibly the best in the world.”

At almost every turn there are memorable golf holes that are framed by iconic moments in the sport. Stand on the 17th tee and think back to Nicklaus’ world famous 1-iron in 1972 or Watson chipping in to edge out Nicklaus in 1982...and then try to hit your own shot! It is moments like this that make Pebble Beach so very special, the sense of history and nostalgia is at your every turn and something that will ensure this course stays at the very forefront of golf for decades to come.

Spyglass Hill Golf Course

Considered by many to be the toughest layout of the 3 courses involved in the tournament. Spyglass holds a formidable reputation that is underpinned by many of its holes ranking within The PGA Tour’s most difficult holes. Despite this reputation, Spyglass is warmly received by professionals and amateurs alike with golfers enjoying it’s well thought out design by Robert Trent Jones Sr. Upon opening in 1966, Crosby set Nicklaus a challenge of breaking par on the course, Nicklaus recorded a 2 under par score of 70, winning the bet and settling the score that the course is a true test of Championship golf.

Spyglass Hill measures 6,960 yards against it’s par of 72 which would seem relatively short by modern standards and yet it’s USGA course rating of 75.5 goes on to show you quite how testing the course is.

Monterey Peninsula Country Club (Shore Course)

This exclusive private members club is arguably the prettiest and most picturesque of any in this region. Golfers will be drawn in by dramatic shorelines and Cypress trees that have stood up against the test of time and everything that The Pacific Ocean has had to throw against it. The club dates back to 1925 and has enjoyed a rich history since then with the courses being expanded and the club developed to reflect its position as one of the most sought memberships in California.

Both professionals and amateurs will enjoy incredible views and rolling waves as they take on the impeccably conditioned par-71, 6,867 yard layout that was recently redesigned by Mike Strantz in 2003.
